ख्वाबों में बसा लेते पलकों में छिपा लेते,
होता गर बस अपने जाने न हम देते,
भारत का हृदय धड़कता था आपकी हर सांस में
कागज़ी नहीं असली उड़ानें उड़ते थे आकाश में
पन्ने पुराने हो जाएँगे पर नाम अमर इतिहास में
दे गए एक नई विरासत भारतीयों के हाथ में।
आप मुलायम दूब पर शबनमी एहसास थे,
तूफानों के बीच किनारे तक जाने वाली कश्ती थे,
आपका हर कदम एक निशान, एक लक्ष्य हो,
देश के लिए अपना सर्वस्व दे हमारे लिए एक मिसाल हो।
परिप्रेक्ष्य में रहकर आर्थिक सोच रखी अपने देश के लिए,
देश के हर युवा के भविष्य की सोच को साथ में लिए,
मितभाषी, दूरदर्शी, वक़्त पर सबकी आवाज़ बनने के लिए,
आपने भारत को एक नया आकार दे शुक्रतारा बना दिया,
आपकी रत्न-सी बातों ने ज़िंदगी का अनमोल सबक सीखा दिया,
हवाओं में आशा के अनगिनत दीपों को रोशन आपने कर दिया।
आपका हर कदम भारत का एक गौरवशाली क्षण रहा,
बनकर एक रोल मॉडल आसमां की बुलंदियों को छू लिया,
स्टील से लेकर कारों तक, रसोई से व्योम को पा लिया,
आपने पानी की एक बूँद नहीं, पूरा समंदर ही पा लिया,
अनेक लोगों को अपने पंखों पर भरोसा रखना सीखा दिया।
अपने हर कदम के साथ देखते थे जो रंगीन सपने,
उन कल्पनाओं को एक सतरंगी इंधनुष में बदल दिया,
हम सभी को संभलना और उड़ान भरना आप सिखा गए,
अपने मानवीय गुणों से अपना नसीब बदलना बता गए।
पूरी मानव जाति के लिए हो आप एक प्रकाश स्तम्भ,
आपने बदलकर हमारी नज़र, हटा दिया उसमें से दंभ,
आपकी विरासत समय की कसौटी पर खरी उतरेगी,
बीत जाने से पहले हर लम्हे को जीत ही लेगी,
कितनी खामोशी से आप सितारों के पार चले भी गए,
पर अपना नाम हर दिल पर स्वर्णिम अक्षरों में लिख गए,
आप भारत रत्न ज़माने को उसकी औकात बता गए,
दिल में कुछ करने का ज़ज़्बा, आँखों में आँसू दे गए।
