Scholastic Programme
Teaching students how to learn is just as important as teaching them what to learn. We encourage our students to think for themselves, ask questions and pursue their interests through independent reading and research.
The curriculum is regularly updated to stimulate students’ interests and gain the knowledge they need to compete in the fast-changing 21st century global world. Teachers make the classes interactive by using different methods and modalities of teaching to get the best out of each student. Collaborative learning is incorporated into lessons so students can share ideas and learn with and from each other.
Students are engaged in experiential learning through a variety of resources. Visual Arts, Music, Drama and Physical Education are additional curricular offerings to all students. There are also many enrichment activities including outbound trips and learning experiences with other schools.
Kindergarten
During the Kindergarten years, all the learning and activities at NPS Dommasandra lead towards promoting holistic development of the students which is essential for their life-long learning. The students have an opportunity to participate in activities which weave arts, crafts, stories and play together to explore a range of concepts in language, mathematics, sciences, values and general knowledge. The students are encouraged to work collaboratively to generate better learning and share best practices as well. To enrich the teaching learning journey the student teacher ratio is well taken care of by assigning two teachers in each class.
Primary Years
NPS Dommasandra offers an integrated, interdisciplinary curriculum for Primary school. Our academically rigorous curriculum is integrated with creative arts and presented imaginatively to engage the students physically, cognitively and emotionally.
It is our constant endeavour to facilitate and provide a productive learning process through activity-oriented lessons, hands-on work and extensive co-curricular activities. As students move through the Primary School, we begin to introduce them progressively to the world of integrated knowledge, while particularly strengthening their fundamentals in English, Mathematics, General Science and Social Science.
Middle Years
Middle School students study a curriculum that has a broader base with emphasis on the core subjects.
Middle School students are ready to tackle deeper and more discreet subjects with an array of specialist teachers, along with enriching their language aptitude with additional languages. In grade V, a third language (Hindi/Kannada) is introduced in addition to the existing subjects-English, Mathematics, Computer Science, Hindi, General Science and Social Studies.
In grade VI, Math is split into Math-I and Math-II, General Science becomes bifurcates as Physics, Chemistry and Biology and Social Science becomes more specialized as History, Civics and Geography. English, Hindi, Kannada and Computer Science continue to be a part of the existing curriculum.
Secondary and Senior Years
During these years, students become more independent learners. Learning goes beyond books through projects, multimedia presentations, group work, collaborative learning and various learning events and experiences.
Students of grade IX and X study English, General Science, Social Science, Math and Hindi or Kannada. In grade XI, students may choose the Commerce stream which offers English, Business Studies, Economics, Accountancy, and Entrepreneurship or Math. Alternately, they may choose the Science stream that offers English, Physics, Chemistry, Math, and Computer Science or Biology or Economics.
